Dr Fredy Perez   lionfredyperez@gmail.com

In 1978, Dr Fredy joined the Echo Park Lions Club. When the Echo Park Lions Club ceased to exist in 1996, he transferred to the LA Host Lions Club.

Dr. Perez has held numerous positions in his club, including three times president. He is a Melvin. Jones recipient Certified Guiding Lion, Club Lion of The Year, a Harry.J AsIan Fellow and participates in numerous annual Eye Mobile Screenings.

Dr. Perez believes that it is not enough to identify individuals with an eye problem during a vision screening, but it is most important to guide that individual to the proper care. To that end he does pro-bono follow up care for those who fail his vision screenings.

In the district, Dr. Perez is a member of the Eye Mobile Foundation, the Global Membership Team, and past member of the board of trustees of The Southern California Lions Eye Institute. He presently holds the position of Metro Zone A Chairman. In 2012 President Wing-Kun- Tam presented him with the International President's Award for outstanding service to Lions International.

For the past 33 years, Dr. Fredy Perez has been an integral part in providing care for local residents through his optometry practice in the Echo Park community of Los Angeles, California.

As a respected community leader and businessman, Dr Fredy Perez’s accomplishments are attributed to his longevity and accessibility to the people of the neighborhoods he serves.

He is very action in various charitable and nonprofit organisations, especially those that focus their work on improving the lives of youth. Whether it is through actual practice or through his charity work, there truly is ‘no place else’ he would rather be than working to build a stronger community.

Dr. Fredy Perez is a native of the Dominican Republic. He migrated to New York in 1959 where he attended High School. After four years in the United States Marine Corps and a tour of duty in Vietnam, Dr. Perez attained his Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University and Doctor of Optometry degree from Boston College of Optometry. Soon after graduation, Dr .Perez moved to Los Angeles California.

Dr. Perez also holds the position of assistant professor at The Southern California College of Optometry and maintains a full time optometric practice in his adopted community of Echo Park.

Dr Fredy is the proud father of two wonderful daughters, Daniella and Lilac who are the joy of his life and to whom he dedicates his Lion life.
